Cirrus Logic has an ongoing focus to increase the number of women in our organization through a variety of internal programs designed to empower and support women at all levels of our organization. One such effort was to create our first Employee Resource Group (ERG) – the Women’s Leadership Team – whose membership is open to all employees and provides support and encouragement through connection, mentorship, collaboration, and discussion. In addition, the company prides itself on maintaining a world-class employee training and professional development program. We believe providing access to resources and training will help to maximize our employees’ success. . We believe our employees place a high degree of value on their personal advancement and are eager to learn. During the past three years, our employees have completed an averaged of approximately 15,000 hours of training annually in areas such as management and leadership development, engineering and technical skills building, health, wellness and other professional topics. Our robust online learning platform enabled us to easily adapt to working remotely in 2020 by providing all our trainings virtually, which resulted in increased course participation. Furthermore, our educational assistance program helps employees pursue undergraduate and graduate level coursework, certifications and degrees. The company also pays for 100% of all membership fees to support and encourage our female engineers to participate in professional organizations.
Facilitating knowledge and sharing best practices across the organization are important aspects of employee development. Our own employees are the in-house experts during regular “Knowledge Share” events, and our unique “TechTalk Tuesday” program brings in college professors from universities around the world to share cutting-edge research currently in development, sparking inspiration toward potential new areas of business development. Additionally, the global Cirrus Logic Innovation Conference is held biennially to foster knowledge sharing with colleagues through research, presentation abstracts, white papers, and new product demonstrations. There is also an ongoing effort to increase the number of female technologists involved with patenting intellectual property within the organization. This includes regularly held "Patent Coffee Hours" hosted by the company's engineering fellows and legal team to talk about possible patentable ideas; evaluate or approve next steps; and answer questions about the patenting process.
Finally, in addition to the array of training and development opportunities available to all employees at Cirrus Logic, we also provide on-site and virtual corporate libraries that are supported by a dedicated corporate librarian. Our libraries provide employees with critical research services which save time and allows our technologists to advance their engineering projects. Our engineers value the libraries’ services, evidenced by a more than 35 percent increase over the previous year in downloads across all available on-line engineering-based resources.
