American Century Investments stands out as an employer of choice among a crowded field of asset managers because of the values that underscore everything we do. (Spoiler alert: It’s about more than money.)
Looking back at our 60+ year history, our passion for helping people was a strand in our company DNA. Then our late founder used his personal fortune to establish and endow the Stowers Institute for Medical Research. This one-of-a-kind business model connects the dots between money management and medical research. To date, American Century has directed more than $1.6 billion in its own company dividends to this world-class medical facility—which owns more than 40% of our company—to unlock the secrets to gene-based diseases like cancer.

Who are we?
More than a half century ago in 1958, an innovator named Jim Stowers, Jr. founded a small asset management firm in his one-bedroom apartment. His vision was to create a company dedicated to integrity, performance and service all focused on one objective: helping investors reach their financial goals. The company—now American Century Investments—has grown to become one of the country's top money managers serving clients around the world.
What do we do?
We serve financial intermediaries, institutional clients, and individual investors. As of April 2020, we manage $159.6 billion in assets.
Where are we located?
American Century has offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Sydney, Frankfurt and Kansas City.
Additionally, partnering with Japan-based financial giant Nomura allows us to provide funds on more than 70 international platforms.
What recent accomplishments are we proud of?
What do we offer employees?
Having a sense of purpose isn’t the only reason our employees love working at American Century. We also offer benefits that are second to none.
In addition to competitive compensation, we offer a bonus plan, a profit-sharing plan, a retirement savings match and a 529 college savings plan match. And to support work-life balance, we provide paid holidays, generous paid time off, service awards, parental leave, adoption and surrogate assistance, an employee assistance program, on-site health screenings, an on-site fitness center at our corporate headquarters and more.
Another thing you should know is that we take professional development seriously. Whether it’s on-the-job training, becoming a student of the business, building core skills or strengthening/developing new skills, we offer opportunities in the form of eLearning and virtual or in-class training. We also offer tuition reimbursement for those seeking advanced degrees.
Our “Dollars for Donors” program also recognizes employee contributions of time and money, providing an opportunity to direct up to $7,000 annually to a 501(c)(3) that is personally supported by each employee.
