Horrendous, archaic maternity/family leave policies. people come back 4 weeks after having children. No day care, no emergency child care, no assistance with child care for required work travel, non-family friendly hours. However you can often arrange "under the table" flexibility-- if you have tenure.

LSU is a great place to work if you have a family. The standard workday is 8-4:30, and depending on which leave option is chosen, it is possible to quickly accrue a large amount of PTO.
