The extent to which Rice is "family friendly" depends on your job and department. I've seen a lot of variation.

Executive level jobs are mainly men. Support jobs are mainly women. Some parity for academic jobs, but much less for staff jobs.

In my particular department (administrative), men are definitely given much more flexibility, consideration and respect. The working attitude is "if you're not at your desk, you're not working." There is lots of lipservice given to teamwork, inclusivity, diversity, synergy, blah blah blah, but the reality is exactly the opposite.
