At Rentokil Terminix, we believe inclusion inspires results. Perspectives from a diverse workforce can provide key insights into selling into varied and different communities, providing numerous avenues for the growth of the business and improved customer satisfaction.
The Colleague Resource Groups at Rentokil Terminix represent various cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds, interests and orientations of our colleagues. These groups promote awareness of diverse colleague perspectives and cooperation across all of our businesses and levels of the company, allowing our colleagues to assume responsibilities beyond their own jobs and develop important leadership skills, valuable experience and personal connections. The Women’s Colleague Resource Group strives to highlight opportunities for training, experience and support that enable women colleagues to overcome obstacles, maximize their potential and increase the sphere of influence within the organization and the communities where they work and live.
At Rentokil Terminix, nixing pests is just the beginning. You’ll be on a mission to find and eliminate insect and rodent infestations, but we're more than just a termite and pest control company. Rentokil Terminix offers insulation services, wildlife control and many specialized services to help protect your home. It's hard work, but we offer great perks and opportunities for advancement for those who are up for the challenge. Don’t let this opportunity crawl away--literally.
Brandi Stover values creating meaningful relationships, whether that’s spending quality time with her family and friends or building a healthy collaborative working environment for her team and colleagues. As a Senior Director of Career Management & Learning and Development, her role plays an essential part in aligning employee goals and performance with the company's strategy.
“Rentokil Terminix has a fast paced, can-do culture. It is full of talented individuals who are willing to share their knowledge, and as a result, it creates a great environment for meaningful colleague experiences and development. The company gives me the tools to be successful by helping me develop my internal network and providing resources necessary to be an effective leader. In my role, I directly support senior business leaders and fellow HR colleagues, but the most rewarding part of my job is leading a team that helps colleagues learn, grow, and feel fulfilled in their work."
After graduating with a PhD in Entomology, Nancy Troyano dove right into working at Rentokil Terminix as a technician, which led her to flourish as a Manager of Training where she spearheaded and built the organization’s current Operations, Education, and Training Department. Today, as a Director of the same department, she loves watching her team succeed in their roles, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
“There is no greater feeling than celebrating the accomplishments of someone who has worked really hard to bring a vision to life and watching them shine as they do so. Their success is my success! Work-life balance is a topic that is brought up regularly and enforced on my team. I am a mom of two girls, which by itself is a full-time job, so life can feel pretty overwhelming. Regardless of how busy you are, make sure you have time for self-care, so that you can be your best self at home and at work. For me, it’s stealing a few hours on the weekend for a hike, or to look for critters, or I’ll treat myself to a chapter or two of a murder mystery book.”
Last summer, Petula Evans supported the National Civil Rights Museum for #TerminixCaresWeek. It was her seventh year participating and she was thrilled to be a part of such a great cause! What does Terminix Cares Week mean to you, Petula?
“Taking part in Terminix Cares Week is not just a tradition for me – it’s part of my DNA. I want to have a positive impact that will enrich lives at work and in the community. These organizations are great, and the more I am involved, the more I grow as a person. I know that my involvement can positively impact the organizations and bring more awareness, influencing others to participate and bringing awareness to the organization.”
Claretta Gaither begins every day by devoting time for exercise, prayer, meditation, and learning. Her morning power hour energizes and prepares her to proudly lead the frontline recruiting team that supports high volume recruiting across the company resulting in 8K annual hires. As a Talent Acquisition Director, she takes pride in building a positive culture for her team.
“We have a very team-oriented culture. When I have new people start on my team, one of the most consistent pieces of feedback I receive is how everyone makes them feel welcome and creates time to answer any questions they have. I am a big fan of quotes, and one that resonates with me currently is from a book titled, “Today Matters” by John Maxwell. ‘The greatest of all miracles is that we need not be tomorrow what we are today. The greatest of all insights is that we cannot be tomorrow what we do not do today. That is why today matters.’ Success rarely comes overnight. We must put in the work each day if we want to see change in the future. We should be the change we want to see in the world.”
Janet McQuarrie walked during #TerminixCaresWeek for the cause of caregivers. For every step she takes, Terminix will donate to SRVS – The Family Answer for Disabilities. Why did you choose to support SRVS, Janet?
“I am passionate about helping anyone affected by disability, especially those who provide support in the caregiving role. Being a caregiver requires much patience, perseverance and ability to love no matter what. It’s a cause near and dear to my heart. Terminix Cares Week is a wonderful time to connect with teammates and remember how blessed I am to work for a great company. It’s so rewarding to have the opportunity to give back!”
Lisa Greer joined the company in 2019 as a Payroll Manager, and within 3 years, she was promoted to be a Senior Payroll Manager. With the help of starting off her morning with coffee, gratitude, and meditation and relieving her stress with exercise, Lisa views her challenges at work with a positive outlook.
“The reward is the outcome of the challenge. Being in payroll, the biggest challenges can stem from keeping up with emerging technologies and policies, but the most rewarding parts of my job are from the colleague interactions and the opportunities to coach and develop individuals on my team.”
Christy Nicholson has been with Terminix for 3 ½ years. She started as an Outside Sales Professional and was in the field for 3 months before being promoted to a Sales Manager in San Jose, California. In her current role as a Branch Manager, Christy runs an acquisition branch, O’Connor Pest Control. Christy is also a single mother of 7 children with 3 still at home. Christy credits the support of the executive team at Terminix with allowing her to be successful, grow as a leader daily, and still have time to spend with her family. “I am blessed to have been given the opportunities I have with this company. As a female, and a Hispanic, I have always had to work ten times harder as a manager to stand out. Succeeding is one thing, but doing it in a male predominant industry makes it that much more rewarding.”
When she was given the opportunity to be a Branch Manager, Shekinah Fero didn’t succumb to her feelings of self-doubt and uncertainty. She maximized her strengths by stepping outside her comfort zone, which led her to create a positive environment for her branch.
“I find the leadership aspect of my role most rewarding. I enjoy building relationships, cultivating a great culture, and influencing my fellow colleagues to succeed and to know their potential. I am proud of the impact I have made in my role so far. I was able to positively change the culture in the branch, reduce the extreme workload, and regulate staffing and training. Leading through change and uncertainty is one of my prominent strengths, and I am very proud of how much I have accomplished while still having the time to influence my team.”
