"Amex has a positive, relationship-based culture and recently announced a great new parental leave policy. My one (gender-related) complaint is that there are not as many women in senior positions as there should be given that at lower levels some departments are dominated by women. "

"Today, a lot of the leadership is ossified and too narrowly experienced just within American Express. A lot of common leadership practices are no longer considered best practice and the company is slow to learn from external sources. "

"Great place to be mom of young children. Lots of expected and granted flexibility. But long term career growth is limited, or shallow--more lateral than up. "

"In marketing, there are overwhelmingly more women than there are men at the entry to mid-senior levels. Amex in general is known for its flexibility and friendly work culture. Compared to other traditional financial services, there are also more female senior leaders (GM, SVPs). However, I would like to see more women at the very top echelon of the company (C-level and Board Members). "
