"Cisco is a large company so I'm sure it varies by department but I had the absolute worst experience of my career working at Cisco. The culture was full of rampant sexual harassment and inappropriate comments, clear sexism, coupled with a complete lack of available HR and the constant threat of retaliation. I would not recommend the specific department I worked for to ANYBODY but its possible other departments are better."

"Within exec ranks, women are expected to work 60-80 hrs/week and almost always work on their paid time off. Most take their laptop on their vacation. The rate of leaves of absence due to stress are very high: three doctors warned me not to return to work there because of their reputation for stressful working conditions "

"HR added a new bonding policy this year that per the policy, they based eligibility on when the mother's disability ended (it's 6 or 8 weeks, depending on type of delivery) or when a baby was born or placed with a family. They claimed the magic effective date was November 1 of 2017 but allowed a look back period to October 1, for unknown and arbitrary reasons. The claim was that the policy was rolled out in early October so they didn't want to be rude to mothers that had babies in early October. However, they denied the additional paid leave to mothers that had babies in the last few weeks of September, even though most of those mothers were not ending their disability until well into November. Not only was the policy badly worded, but only a handful of women would have been denied as it was only applicable in the US at the time. They spout all this pretend care for women and families and "moments that matter," but did not care to see the error in their policy or make exceptions when it really did matter. Other companies have the same policy for extra paid bonding, but grandfathered all people that had babies in 2017 to be fair, and show true concern for their employees. I used to think Cisco actually cared about its employees, but it's clear they could not care less for their female employees at a time it's truly needed. I also know of certain VPs making promotion decisions based on whether or not maternity leave is a possibility, and yes, a man was chosen in that case. I guess Cisco doesn't get the whole "time's up" movement. "

"Working from home used to exist at Cisco, but certain organizations are trying to implement an all or nothing approach when it really doesn't make sense for those organizations. Additionally, this disproportionately affects working mothers the most. "
