"Some private sector organizations offer better compensation, pay, benefits, opportunity to grow and be in leadership positions as well as better work-life balance (maternity leave most important). Very few women in high leadership levels (10%)."

"It all depends on the manager and most are men and or they are old-school. They have flex work policies but people are afraid to use it or take it. Lack of women in leadership roles and lack of encouragement creates more imbalance."

"The maternity leave is not very good. Also, lacks support for mothers who return to work post birth. Parents have to pay for on-site childcare (it's expensive), workplace doesn't provide lactation rooms on every floor. I once saw a mother pumping breast milk on 2nd floor cafeteria because the lactation room was on 9th or 10th floor. IMF advocates gender friendly policies but heavily lacks in introducing or implementing them internally. "

"If you are an economist, you will be in the minority but we are growing! We have goals to raise the number of women here at professional and senior levels and we are making progress. Strong commitment from Christine Lagarde...not sure about below her."

"Informally flexing for an occasional appointments for doctor, home repair, child-related appointments or for an imminent work deadline where you need to go home and write uninterrupted are all fine on an ad hoc basis. Regularly telecommuting as part of your ongoing schedule isn't done much or is done under the radar. Lots of people use compressed work weeks however...depends upon your manager. Very facetime, presence culture overall."

"International organization means lots of different cultures--not all of which are respectful of women. My personal experience has been great, but this can vary significantly by department. Having a woman at the top (Christine Lagarde) has ushered in positive change for professional female employees, but support staff continue to regularly experience gender discrimination. "
