"First and foremost, negotiate your pay as high as possible when accepting the job, raises are below cost of living and exceeding expectations is no guarantee of receiving one."

"There is immense flexibility for higher level personnel, but lower level do not have flexibility of hours, even in non-customer facing positions. Remote work for lower level positions is not common, but again higher level positions have the freedom to do so."

"In my particular department (administrative), men are definitely given much more flexibility, consideration and respect. The working attitude is "if you're not at your desk, you're not working." There is lots of lipservice given to teamwork, inclusivity, diversity, synergy, blah blah blah, but the reality is exactly the opposite."

"Rice provides 6 or 8 weeks of short term disability (at 80% pay; 6 weeks for vaginal deliveries and 8 weeks for cesareans). Thereafter, it's unpaid , but you can use your PTO to pay for these weeks at 100% of your salary."
