You must be outgoing and somewhat "pushy". If you are smart but quiet, nobody will come looking for you.

Despite their promises, you will never be promoted from "contract" to full employment.

The hours are long; it is tough to go from a contract to a FT position if you are American; meetings are competitive. On the other hand, the health benefits are great.

Reasonably good work environment for families. The change process has put the organisation into limbo though, leading management to come down hard on employees and increasing pressures and hours. Benefits are generous but also slowly being trimmed. Work life balance is okay - really depends on the individual. But if you'd like to do well, then long hours is the norm.
