I am located in the Bay Area; California. I have many different skills and talents, here are just a few: Customer Service, Design/Create, Great artist, Working with children, I've been through domestic violence and would love to give help to those who need advice, I could be great at leasing places; I'm a fast learner, I'd love to start a blog but just don't know where to begin, I can pretty much do anything I put my mind to but I just don't know which direction to choose from. My daughter's father just passed away in August and I'm scared about my income supporting my children and I want whats best for them. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! I'd love to work from home to be there for my kids when they need me, whats best? How do I get started? Thank you in advance to anyone who responds to this!!

Hi Tiffani --
First, my condolences on the passing of your daughter's father -- that must be very difficult.
It sounds like you have lots of talents and are willing to roll-up your sleeves!
As a next step, I would make a list of each of those areas of expertise and then start to add your experience in those areas.
When you have all of that on paper, you can start to see a few areas where you can start to focus on next.
Put together a resume, cover letter and any other materials you'll need to go out there and get a job in that area.
Best of luck to you!

Thank you! It has already been a struggle financially, which is why I am reaching out for suggestions. I've been with Starbucks for 5+ years now and my pay is the same pay as the new kids that just started with the company. I feel underappreciated there and feel I have a lot of potential else where. Since Covid-19 hours has been cut and I have been on LOA since March! I'm going back next week, but I don't want to stay too long as much as I love my customers and co-workers I have a family to support. Anyway thank you again! I appreciate you!

You are welcome!
So you have great retail experience, experience with customers, probably operations (managing all the moving parts behind the scenes at Starbucks) experience. That is very valuable experience that will go a long way!

Hi Tiffani. I can really appreciate having lots of interests and skills and then trying to decide which of those things to focus on as a career.
One thing I've found helpful is to focus in on the sweet spot - It's not only what I'm good at but what I would want to do 8 to 10 hours a day four or five days a week for the foreseeable future. What would I be excited to get out of bed for in the morning?
I've never met a personality test I didn't love :) You might consider taking a Myers-Briggs, DiSC, Strengthsfinders, Enneagram or some other type-test that would give you a list of potential starting points to explore.
Another suggestion would be to look at your state's career readiness programs. There are potentially extensive resources there - including career advice and placement services.
Wishing you the very best as you navigate all of this!

Thank you so much for the advice! I appreciate you. I am hoping to find something I enjoy every day and something that'll fully support my children and I :)
