I currently work in a very specialized role, which has benefits and disadvantages. I am looking to make a move to a different job but because of my specialized role, I do not really have much experience for anything else. Does anyone know of any industries that hire and have training programs on the job? Something that is still relatively well paying? eg. managememt, sales, etc. Appreciate any insight!

Anonymous, I recommend you do some work (either with a coach or on your own) to identify your transferable skills. You want to narrow down the world of work to what you want to do AND have the qualifications for, rather than seeking something that will "let you in." You want to be in the driver's seat of your own career, rather than a passenger.

I completely agree with Lesa. There are a number of things you probably do in your specialized role that are completely transferable to other roles. Not only do you need to identify them, you will want to be able to articulately talk about how they are transferable to X (fill in the blank with with you wan to do).

Yes to the great advice above -- way too often career switchers leave so much on the table that they bring to their new career. Get some help to identify those skills and make sure that you can provide some examples.
