Hi, I didn't want to use the word mentor because this word has a different professional meaning for social work. I am hoping to find someone who is willing to spend some time via email or other means with me once a month as a confidant - as I get through the last of my MSW and embark on a social work path. I am attending a low level school in a low level state, because of a state veteran scholarship. I am mostly interested in meeting with someone who has a business oriented mind, and a mind to provide me some guidance on transitioning from blue to white collar. I have some things to change and overcome, such as I let myself get stuck in a government job for years that has very poor leadership, poor work ethics, and I am sure I have developed some poor habits from that job as well as frustrated burn out. I am blue collar, not gentle but rough because of a rough background and life (I am a veteran also). I look lower income and have health issues due to that rough life, which needs to change. I need to develop political and social office skills up to the white collar professional level. I would like to become a female disabled war veteran small business owner and open a clinic, as there are not enough clinics where I am. I won't work for the VA or government again (I get my 'care' there, enough said). I have a business undergraduate degree. I hope to find someone who is interested in offering some advice for a set time, with some set goals. I am sharing this anonymously, but if you send me a way to contact you I will. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
