Make WFH Fun (yes, that reads fun!)

I recently started my first job right after finishing college in June and have been WFH since. To be honest, at first it was nice to not have to make the commute or have to figure out what to wear every day etc etc... However, I've really been missing the social connections / interactions and just variations in my daily routine since now my room and office are one and the same. So, I decided to come up with some ways to spice up the WFH and make it a little less boring and sad. Please add to this list if you have any tricks of your own! 1. Dress up 2. Work from an outdoor coffee shop 3. Go for a quick walk / bike ride during lunch 4. Find a fun work playlist 5. Set up a coffee bar at home 6. Re-arrange your room 7. Organize virtual lunches with friends / co-workers

Great list! I set up weekly goals for myself each week, and I try to include things that will make me smile like 'send Kate cookies' or 'hug my partner more' or 'read something frivolous'. When I get busy, and I look back on the list to check progress, it makes me smile and I go do happy things. You are on the right track, and this thoughtful approach to dealing with a tough circumstance will serve you well in your career ahead. :) Nice work!

Make your own 30 Day challenge to add something in your routine - examples are fitness challenges, self-care challenges, meditation challenge, 30 days of decluttering your home challenge, 30 days ig story challenge, gratitude challenge, song in a playlist challenge, etc. You can also look for more ideas via Pinterest, I usually download my chosen challenge and pin it somewhere in my bedroom.

I live in Tampa, FL... so when it's not rainy, I try to get outside as much as possible. There's something about being in the sun and breathing in the fresh air that is super refreshing for me... plus, on more "challenging days," it helps me reset my mind and my mood when meditation just isn't doing the trick.

I like to make sure I schedule time for a walk outside and sometimes I like to cook in my slow cooker (since I’m home and can watch it!) ?

When our offices closed in March, we started doing theme days throughout the week. It was fun! Usually we are in business suits but there were no less than 2 dozen different opportunities to show our creativity and have a little fun. Granted, the pandemic and WFH isn't new anymore. But something coordinated like this with the rest of the team can be a good bonding experience.

I am more of an outdoorsy type of person and what has really helped me is discovering more isolated spots in parks. I look for areas to have a picnic, set my blanket, take my headphones, computer (charged for at least 3 hrs), and hotspot and just work underneath the shade of the tree. Bring lunch/snacks and water to stay cool. ;)

Absolutely love this idea! Maintaining a routine is crucial, so even if you're not going anywhere, continuing your morning routine is crucial! Here's what a typical WFH looks like for me, with some spice to make it fun! *Workout (time block of 1hr at least)-barre, strength, yoga, pilates, HIIT (I change it up to keep it fresh) *Get ready (dress up, grooming, etc.)-->reflections in the shower, singing, thinking, say what your thankful for or spew out loving affirmations to myself, etc... *Get my morning hot beverage (wellness lattes are my jam!)--> I sometimes go out to get it to break up my day *Check email, plan my day (gamify my work load with goal setting, so if I get 3-5 things off my daily list I treat myself to something cool or sweet!) *I take a walk if at all possible and/or listen to a podcast or read something for fun in between work activities to break up the day *LUNCH TIME (It's crucial I take this) sometimes I make something, order for delivery or go and grab it myself if I haven't gone out yet! *Crush more projects and END MY DAY! So, if you end at 5pm, then end it, don't let it spill over! *Walk my pooch to end on a happy note~ (kids, cats, phone..lol)--> it's important to end it on a happy note whatever that means for you~ Some things to break up the routine: >Make time for dancing >Learn something new (I'm learning Hip Hop, so much fun!) >Schedule virtual lunch dates/meetings/parties/hang outs/streaming parties w. friend or fam >Connect or meet new people (Eventbrite is my new BFF! I meet new people and started a new group for Vision Board workshops of my own!)--> Don't see something you love, start one! > Schedule a virtual cooking/baking/cocktail day w. your friends! > Explore your neck of the woods for a change of scenery~ Maybe there are some places (i.e. outdoor cafes, eateries, parks, plazas, etc.) that you could work from that have wifi. I learned one of my closest beach has wifi. Do whatever it is that helps you break up the day and keeps you healthy, happy and motivated! It's different for everyone, but one thing remains the same for everyone, it's crucial to have a routine and stick to it!

This is a great point and a great list of tips! I also do the lunchtime walk and rearranged my work space. Some of their tips are to add other virtual meetups. Think about when you would walk to someone else’s office to ask some questions rather than send an email about it. Use that as a chance to say “do you have a minute for a video call?” Have the face-to-face discussion which can also lead to other conversations and collaborations on new or existing projects. Also, get up each hour or on a regular basis just to move occasionally and keep from getting stiff or burnt out from your work.

Having clear boundaries is so important during COVID! I also like to take a walk "commute" around the block before and after work so that I can shift my mindset. It's been helpful.
