Encouragement/Rewards & Recognition in the "New Normal"

Our office is beginning to prepare for phases of return to on-site work. Amid so much ambiguity, we're trying to come up with ways to reward (non-monetary) and reinforce our culture as it changes in ways that may feel unusual/uncomfortable & respect social distancing, etc. Has anyone come up with good culture initiatives to help welcome and encourage team members?

Start a compliment jar or board. Every time someone does a good job, they get a compliment. Helps with self-esteem, too. :)

We started a Kudos board! It through our employee portal and managed by marketing. Employees are able to recognize their peers and share uplifting stories. We have also begun to include customer 'Thank you' cards/notes as well. It has been received well. Another thing I have done is hosting quarterly lunches for my team and while I will no longer do the large groups, I am planning to still provide lunch and do virtual check-ins.

I particularly love the kudos board idea! We're working on adjusting our lunch/snack approach as that's historically been a big part of our culture :)

I've implemented Customer Success Stories (CSS). My team is in customer support, but I could see this working in a lot of teams. We've asked the whole team to submit feedback they get from their customers via smartsheets, then my team leads and I review them and choose a success story of the month to share with the entire organization. The winner does get "lunch on me," which is a $10 gift card of their choice, but that could easily be removed and the program would still be successful. We've made sure to align our assessment criteria to the values of the organization and our customer service ethos. I'd be happy to share more details if it sounds like something that might work for you.

Thanks so much for sharing this! I like the idea of success stories - for many of our internal corporate employees, this may be a little tougher to source, but I think we could play with it!
