Did you have prior issues before the new hire and this was the last straw? My career advice if you are leaving solely based off of the current situation and if you love your job, don't let someone win your position. Maybe you were thinking you were being under minded when each person works differently and this person was bringing new ideas or more efficient ways to do the job and you were not willing to be open for change? I would have for sure spoken to my boss about it and see if you could have a sit down and express yourselves, if the boss still allowed it then I would have taken the compliant to the Boss's Boss (that likes you) and perhaps they could have integrated a new position or had a roundtable discussion to see how you both could bring ideas to the table. Now taking a new job could risk "the grass is not always greener on the other side" effect. I would most def tell others you felt like it was time for a change but never leave a bad impression regarding the new hire or your manager if you are moving on. Also, who is to say that the new hire would be staying? Maybe you left too soon.

I, on the other hand, won't explain, because the real reason will not occur to me until I've taken a lot of time to reflect on it. It will seem like it's one thing, but it will really something else entirely.
I don't look back at past jobs anymore, because I've grown in ways I never could have and would never trade going back for where I am now.
