The world of tech is a male dominated place, and so it is naturally biased.
It is a world which has been created by men. They have defined the rules and structures by successes in the past.
They often aren't aware there are other ways which could be equally, if not more successful. These new ways are risky and unproven, and it's easier to stick with what you know.
As more women enter the tech world, and more conversations happen, we continue to highlight the bias and introduce new approaches.
This can feel tough. We are introducing change and trying to demonstrate that there is a different way in a world which isn't designed for us. We build evidence to show that incorporating female approaches the tech world makes it even better.
We will continually be knocked back and rejected. Our work will go unnoticed. We'll feel tired, overwhelmed and frustrated.
But know that as we work in this world we are influencing change. We are showing that we are worthy, we add and we bring new approaches and insights that are making a difference to the products and services being developed.
Sometimes it takes longer than we want it to, but change is happening.
Know that we are the ones leading the way for girls of the future. One day the gender balance in tech will be equal, and tech will look back and wonder what it did without us.
Do you agree?
