JOB SEEKER WITHOUT DEGREE

Hi. I'm a stressed job seeker. I am sad with my job. It feels like it slowly eating my life and happiness. It's really hard to find job if you do not have degree. I only have a college diploma and company nowadays chooses applicants with good credentials. I have 4 years and 2 months experience of technical hydraulics and lpg applications with sales capability. I recently applied to my dream job but obviously my co-applicants have degree and masters. I couldn't stop working and continue studying because we are really poor. We are broken family and i have to give way to my younger sister. I'm from Philippines and it's really needed to have degree if you want to apply on your dream job. I WILL NOT GIVE UP.

Hi are you in the US? There are plenty of work form home jobs on Indeed and yes do include a cover letter telling your story in a professional way- This will build curiosity! Yes many jobs rely on degrees but you don't need a degree to be successful! My mentors have really helped me a lot in this area! I would love to connect with you!

1. Cover letters will be your best friend. Tell your story in a brief, accomplishment-based, way that relates to how your unique background fits the job personally. 2. Degrees are largely used as a filter during job applications, so if it's your dream job, start networking within the industry. An introduction to the role from a connection helps avoid the automatic weed-out portion. Show your passion. People can pick up on that!

This is excellent advice. Real-world experience is often much more valuable than a university degree - do everything you can to get your story across to real people, so that they can see beyond a 'tick box' job spec. I don't know your industry, but perhaps this is a situation that a recruitment consultant may be able to help with. They often have a direct line to employers and may be able to help you put your case forward.

Thank you so much Mam Emily. I will make cover letters. I have never did this before. I pray it will help me a lot. Regard and keep safe.
