I have been in my new job for 10 months working as a senior analyst on the finance team. I keep getting blindsided by my manager and my director. They want everything done exactly their way with no input from direct reports. My director said I can’t even add a spreadsheet to a file and have to manually type in all numbers. We are working from home and my manager put me on a 30/60/90 day performance improvement plan in the middle of the pandemic. I had my 30 day check in and still have a job. Basically the meeting was him telling me every single mistake I make. I asked if I could switch to a different team and was told no and he put that in my 30 day review. I am 8 years younger than him and have worked in investment management and am really knowledgable and have great technical abilities. Most people on my floor like me and I try to help other departments with technical questions and processes. I have weekly 1:1’s with him where I ask for feedback and he won’t tell me anything. I will also say he is very passive aggressive. One time he told me not to go to a meeting and I went to the meeting.
Any advice on how to get through the next 30 days?
