I've been doing some extra duties helping a new manager in another department. I was asked to help by my building manager. The person I am helping has been very grateful and complimentary of me. He called yesterday and asked if there was anything he could do for me. I want to ask him if he would put in a good word for me with my building manager. I didn't because I didn't want to be overheard asking for this. I thought I might send him an email and say something along the lines of: Thank you for complimenting my work the other day. You asked if there was anything you could do for me. If you think it is appropriate, would you mind putting in a good word for me with *my manager's name*.
I have been slandered by the some people in my own department and I am hoping to repair my reputation especially with the building supervisor. I obviously wouldn't tell the new employee this. Is there any reason this request would be inappropriate?
