How I revived my coding career?

Our world is always evolving, new technologies coming up every day and it’s really hard to keep track. I have been a full stack java developer for four years and even with my experience, I was facing difficulties because I lacked knowledge on current trends and coding techniques. Plus, I wasn’t really moving up my professional ladder either – not on salary front and neither on promotion. That’s when I knew I needed to do a refresher’s course in my field. Enrolling into college again wasn’t my cup of tea so I joined a boot camp. Why? • They are quick and have a fast learning environment • You need basic understanding to join and I had a good experience • They are cost and time effective • They help with job placement too My online research, reviews, ratings, LinkedIn contacts and social media network helped me jot down some top names – Digital Crafts, General Assembly, Ironhack, SynergisticIT, Tech Elevator, Brain Station and Thinkful. Yes, there are hundreds of camps but I highlighted these based on students’ reviews, their track record and ease of understanding the curriculum. I finalized SynergisticIT mainly because the course duration, type and fee structure was suitable for me. I know getting higher paying jobs is tough and market is bad these days, but with their good contacts and effective marketing techniques, I luckily got placed within a few weeks of completing my course. Just remember that you need to have basic coding knowledge to join a camp so make sure you are prepared. Other options were good too but I made my choice based on my requirements. So if you are a graduate, or someone looking to get a break in IT industry, you can definitely consider these guys for the assistance. Obviously nothing happens overnight and you need to be prepared for hard work too but they will surely better your chances.

I've had the same issue since the programming language I'm an expert on, Filemaker, is niche and there aren't a lot of job opportunities in my area. It's like a dead language. Also, before I studied Computer Science, no one ever warned me that you will have to continuously be learning to keep up to date. I've considered doing bootcamps before but because my Graduate Certificate was costly, I've held off and preferred taking a full time job. I wish more companies would have an apprentice like approach to mentor employees but that is not the case in this day and age. when time and productivity are at the forefront. Congrats on making the leap! One day, I may do the same.
