I've coached many people to start their own businesses, after I began consulting (after my twins were born). I'm no IT guru, but you're going to want to choose the platform most used by your target audience. For my business consulting, I relied on LinkedIn. After I transitioned to online coaching, I used paid facebook traffic and needed a platform that supported my online courses. I ended up piecing together a lot of different software rather than use an all-in-one. So I have a funnel, a site, course, email service, and scheduling software. What will you be doing?

Ask me anything about Startups

I've been in the digital/tech startup space for years mostly as a technical product leader and I'm now COO/CTO for a startup that I co-founded.
I'm happy to help give you some advice (I'm not a consultant or a coach, I'm a working CTO in a startup who has spent years building digital products and platform across many industries ).
Ping me and we'll find some time to chat.

The term "platform" is sometimes used to mean "application," "site," "social identity/sound board" and in many other ways. With regard to software, a platform is an underlying, unifying system accessible in multiple channels/access points to accomplish common features.
What are you hoping to accomplish? What is your business? Are you looking for a web site? Mobile app? Desktop app? Or are you looking to create a platform to facilitate/serve/manage them all?
It's often best to start with a good technical design and choose 1 or maybe 2 channels to reach your user base. You can gather data to determine the best/most popular/successful/desirable features, and iterate over your solution until it meets the business requirements and satisfies your customers. Ramping up to other markets/through more channels can be done incrementally, as it makes sense.
