How do you handle the pressure of being a manager right now?

I've taken a pay cut. I've had to let people go. I'm trying to stay focused and yet I don't want to require my team to be the best they can be because we're dealing with a health pandemic. I want to be supportive. I want to help be a great manager during all of this uncertainty. I don't want to perceive stress and I want my team know that it's okay to not feel okay right now. Any advice on how to do this? Any and all manager advice that you'd found useful during this time would be SO much appreciated. Y'all are the best.

I have resources I've created on this page on LinkedIn. You can start with this article on leading with Compassion. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6655587283409924096

Empathy and concern are necessary, but you also have to be real with your team. We went through a string of furloughs and I told my team honestly that if the benchmarks, we're discussing aren't met, there will be more. I was honest. I was open to offering whatever support they need. But I was real - this is a non-negotiable and it does need to happen.

The most important thing you can do right now is show your humanity. Be empathetic, caring, concerned. Be transparent in communications. Ask employees how they are doing and how you can help. Listen intently. Try to remove concerns or hardships from their shoulders. Be there for them. Just asking this question shows how much you care. Thank you and good luck.
