I posted recently about the importance of LinkedIn and keeping my network up to date, especially after being laid off last week.
I then got two interviews and two job offers yesterday (!) - all through my network.
I realize what a fortunate position I am in and am thankful, but here are the questions and maybe someone can help me.
One, the first job is something I was just doing and they really need my help. I like that line of work in my industry, it’s something I have done, but it’s also not a well paying as I expected. I thought there would be a base plus a small bonus structure. The verbal offer was made yesterday and they would want me to start next Wednesday. However, I was under the impression it would be hourly plus a bonus per deal I helped close. The bonuses only kick if we make our company goal.
Two, the other job is sales and draw vs commission. However, I am coming HIGHLY recommended and they asked what would it take to get me started. It’s a boutique firm and not a sales shark tank. I’m thinking about asking for a specific base to cover my bills (which is way over min wage), less in commission for first three months, which would allow me to build up a pipeline, then go to their pay structure. They want me to call them this afternoon to answer the question, “what would it take to get me on board”.
I don’t want to scare them off but if they really believe in me then maybe it’s a practical way to approach it.
Both jobs are in the same industry and again, through my network.
I am putting this out there in case anyone has any thoughts or suggestions about how to approach both jobs.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the kind of life I want to build not just the goals, but who I need to become to reach them.
I know I need more self-discipline, better focus, and a stronger mindset to really stay consistent. I’ve started making small changes, but staying motivated every day isn’t always easy, especially when progress feels slow. ( I am 21 college student about to graduate next spring in undergrad) For anyone who’s been working on becoming more disciplined or building long-term habits what helped you stay committed even on the tough days? How did you stay connected to your bigger purpose without burning out?
Just trying to grow and build something real, one step at a time. Appreciate any advice or encouragement!!!

Is it permissible for a manager or supervisor or fellow co worker to contact a former employee about an assignment you are trying to first connect with your manager about?
In my previous positions this was frowned upon and this was not integral. But I’ve noticed when certain individuals ask me to do something. I would want to speak with my direct superior directly first. But these persons are or have no authority and go over my head and do not give me the space and opportunity to seek direct input first. Then it looks as if I am not being collaborative or compliant. I want to address this directly with these individuals but they never discuss these things with me they just have discussions about me. I’m a very peaceful individual but when I experienced this do frequently i wondered if this is just something that is common.

How to handle approaching manager
I work in a unique department at a remote company where each of us on the team have vastly different roles and responsibilities that support the department as a whole. Unlike for instance, the marketing department or social media department where each person on the team does roughly similar tasks and have fairly similar skill sets.
The issue I face is that my manager (who I do respect a lot and do enjoy working with) has no experience doing what I do. There have been an increasing number of times where my manager has assigned a project to me without understanding the scope of what is being asked and the timeframe of when it’s being asked to be completed by. It gets frustrating that my manager doesn’t understand the time and effort that go into completing the projects I am asked to do.
On the flip side, once I turn in a project, my manager typically is really happy with the results. However, I sometimes feel stagnant in my skill set because I’m not being challenged or critiqued on how to improve because my manager does not have the knowledge base in my area to be able to do so.
I don’t think my manager is aware of the impact their lack of knowledge in my particular area affects me. Is this something I should approach my manager about? If so, what would be the best way to respectfully handle? Thanks!

Confused or Stuck??
I’m trying to get serious about building a solid financial foundation for myself, but honestly, I’m not sure where to start or what steps matter most. I want to get better at budgeting, saving, and maybe even investing down the line, but it feels overwhelming with everything else going on.
