Now that marathon interviewing is the norm, I’m hoping that online interviewing will continue to be the norm.
Interviewing can be exhausting. It is not unusual for a company to request 6-8 interviews, and there’s no guarantee that means you’re the leading candidate.
In my most recent interviewing experience, I was tempted to suggest we record the session and allow the hiring manager to share it with the team. Of course, I didn’t do that because that would be bad form. I had to back off from this nagging need for efficiency I live with inside myself.
The mantra that helped me keep my energy and enthusiasm up through the process was, “You’re interviewing them, too.” It’s good to meet as many folks on the team as you can.
