I used to be a "high achiever" — now my boss refuses to rate me above average

When I started working for my current company two years ago, I was praised as a "high achiever" and hard worker. Since we started working from home in March, however, I've repeatedly had opportunities taken away from me — like leading and presenting on current projects. In my most recent performance review, my boss didn't give me one rate above average. I used to excel, but I also feel like those opportunities to excel are dwindling. What can I do?

You may be suffering from your manager's: - inability to lead a remote team or - their feelings of inadequacies as a remote manager or - their concern about their position in the company during this pandemic. And their inadequacies are being pushed down to you OR they are a manager who needs to "see you" to "give you tasks" (see "they are not a good remote manager" item above) This is what I would do (and I don't know if this is the best course of action for you, but it's what I would do): 1. When a project comes up that you normally would lead or present, ask for that task. OR If you normally didn't hear about projects until your boss give them to you, then call you boss and tell them that you are eager to get back to leading teams and presenting projects. 2. Call your manager and ask why you are not getting the type of work that you had when you were in the office. And write yourself an email (not on a company computer), detailing out everything that has happened and not happened. Keep that email up to date as you have your conversations with your manager.
