I never want to discourage someone from pursuing their dream but this exceptionally tough job market is probably not the ideal time to transition - especially to something like HR. There are so many experienced HR folks on the market, why would a hiring manager hire someone with no experience over an experienced candidate. You may want to see if you can hold off for a bit when attempting this transition to increase your chances of being hired for an HR role.
