Prior to my invite here, I’ve blogged and counseled about ageism in the workplace. It’s an ongoing issue even with government programs to end it.
I never thought about it until my position ended after 21 years of service to the same employer in Michigan when my brother in law mentioned it. I’ve been told and read stories of age discrimination in the workplace which is heartbreaking.
Some told me that they’ve experienced ageism as early as age 40 although predominantly it’s age 45 when the promotions stop, career focus change and being let go to let someone who is younger take your place.
My belief is that the most successful and value entities are inclusive in all populations that adds width and depth to the workplace.
