My family is seriously considering a permanent move from the US to the Netherlands. Does anyone have experience with a global move like this? My job would likely be secure regardless, but my husband would need to find work and we have a daughter in middle school.

Hi Heather,
Google has information about this, here is one link:
https://www.immigration-netherlands.com/how-to-relocate-to-the-netherlands-from-us#:~:text=However%2C%20when%20you%20wish%20to,apply%20for%20a%20residence%20permit.
Also you can probably talk with the local consult in your area or call or email to obtain detailed information. However this site seem informative.
I only know two people who immigrated from the Netherlands to the US, so that information would not be helpful.

Hi Heather - I lived overseas for several years, but I was single and didn't have kids. The main things for you to think about, IMO, would be worse case scenario's. Health insurance, doctors, your kids school to get shut down, an elderly parent here, having a bunch of cash on hand. Be prepared for your husband not to find work and you to be tired and and sleeping on off hours from your family if your work is based in the US. That can be significant if your company is west coast based. Lots to consider! Best wishes!

Would look for Facebook groups, "Americans in the Netherlands" or similar. Can directly ask people with experience.
