Changing behavior is hard. If it were easy, none of us would have any type of coping mechanism that wasn't good for us. A few years ago I worked for a very well known wellness company who has a proven method of helping people improve their health via weight loss. At the time we were focused on implementing a stronger focus on the habits that surround weight loss. The program always referred to habits, like getting in the habit of tracking or logging food, water and activity. Here's how it works: lets say you want to exercise regularly and go to the gym. But you haven't done this ever ... or in a very long time. The first week, you walk on the block or drive down the block the gym is on. Don't go in, but just drive passed it. Next week go to the gym parking lot and sit there for a few minutes (or walk by and touch the door handle). The following week go into the reception area. The next week, go in and use the restroom.
