I think the reason we see so much harassment that pertain to point 6-7-8 is because both employees and employers know that there is no protection against the victim.
I have experienced all of these points at each position I’ve held throughout my entire corporate career and each time I ended up quitting. I often wonder what can be done to ensure that people act professionally and appropriately in the workplace to eliminate this type of behavior. Its clear that it only creates a hostile work environment and only either positively or negatively contributes to the productivity of those involved. Meaning it is usually about power, control and competition. Im only half way through my career and can’t imagine the rest of my working life to be subject to this behavior. I refuse to change my personality, integrity and or my work ethic so I find myself spending hours learning about how to cope with these situations while looking for my next position. Its tiresome and uninspiring. I gladly support any efforts to see a change in the future of the US Employment laws to address the not so black and white situations explained above.
