Other Stuff

We're all in this together. Right?

I work from home, which is an apartment. My upstair neighbor is home schooling their child. The child's room is right over my office and he is... a jumper, runner and loves to drop and bounce stuff. I spoke with my apartment management and I will speak with the family directly but looking for the best way to word it to them. I get they are struggling with home schooling but I do need to work.

Definitely have a conversation with the family and hopefully they'll be understanding and make adjustments. Sometimes, with all that's going on, a family may not realize how noisy their kid is being. I would say something like - "Hey there. I'm your neighbor downstairs, and I'm dropping by because as I'm working from my apartment, there's a lot of noise coming from above me during the day. It's making it difficult to concentrate, and I was hoping we could resolve this together..." They may then ask for specifics, and you should tell them exactly what you're hearing. Perhaps their kid can be in a different room to keep the space quiet during your working hours, or at least for part of the day. I've encountered this issue myself personally, and I have a 4yo. I understand - I hope this helps!
