I’ve been unemployed for an extended period of time since COVID first began.
That being said, this passed Friday I finally received a job offer. I was genuinely very excited about it and planned to hop on a call with the recruiter to discuss salary and ask for a full week to consider (which I’ve been told is pretty standard).
I went into the chat with the recruiter and showed my appreciation and gratitude for the offer. I also then advocated for myself - as I’ve been told is something job seekers should do and have the right to do as well. To my surprise, the recruiter responded to me stating “you’re unemployed and being wishy washy and asking for more money on something that was already a strong offer.” He also stated that I was perceived as very demanding.
30 minutes later he rescinded my offer. I’m finding it hard to wrap my head around this experience and would love to hear any feedback or thoughts on the situation. Was I truly being that demanding?
