Unfortunately it happens everywhere. Wish I would have known about employment lawyer when I was at my last job because I would be rich right now. My boss was the most unethical snake. He bullied every employee he had and definitely thrived on it. He actually would brag about how he treated people and horrible things he said to people. Never in my life have I seen someone that could be so evil. Document everything and make as many phone calls as you need to get the problem taken care of. Bosses should think twice about bullying the people who put food on their tables.

Sadly, even when you are told to report it and follow all of the guidelines and attempt to "rise above" it creates more hostility and even though it is to be kept confidential, it often isn't by management. And often nothing is done outside of formalities. Sometimes people do not recognize their own negative behavior as it has become their way of life and who they have become, others know exactly what they are doing and thrive on it (mean girls). Find a new position that this behavior is a thing of the past and people actually empower each other and respect each other. We can all have bad days but a bad day versus bullying entirely different things.
