So i had a few interviews in the past 3 months with multiple companies and the last two broke my passion and energy to go on. First one, the interview was seemless. I went through the final interview, the hiring managers were very warm and nice and it was easy to talk to them both. 1 week down the road, i had to follow up and only to hear the other candidate was more suitable for the job but i was equally good. Second interview, answered every questions with efficiency and i felt happy with the vibe. But after a week, the recruiter says the HR said i lacked passion . Interview was great otherwise, no other findings. So im in KIV but we all know its never going to materialise. Im tired of putting myself out there, it feels like company are heartlesss but their values/vision states otherwise.

If you’ve made it to the final round of interviews, I’d say you’re doing great! It’s super competitive with our high unemployment numbers. One tip I will give you to address their impression of you lacking passion is to research the company and learn everything you can about them. Then make your list of reasons why you’d be excited to work there. Your excitement about the company will come through. Remember to send a thank you note after all interviews, even though they told you you’d be invited back. Again, express your interest in working with this team, as well as highlighting what you bring to the table. Sometimes it comes down to who cultivates a relationship with them! Good luck in your journey.

Maryann has some great suggestions. I have felt similar frustration with past job searches.
A career coach I met with recently said it takes about 15-20 applications to get an interview, and can take just as many interviews to land a job offer so don't give up. When I was feeling frustrated and weary, someone pointed out that this can show through in how we present ourselves at interviews even though we may not be aware of it. Taking a mental break from the job search for even a couple of days, focusing on a fulfilling hobby, and reminding myself of what I had to offer helped me when I was in a slump with past job searches.

If you’ve made it that far, I would suggest you stay in touch with those people. Check in from month to month, nothing over the top, but if you were actually a good candidate, you want to stay top of mind for the next time there’s an opening.
Often in my experience, an interview doesn’t lead to a job but a great interview leads to being asked to apply for the next job which I’ve often gotten.
Your building Relationships, and that isn’t a single homeroom.. So just hang in there, and through ongoing short interactions, show your passion And be the candidate they’re thinking about the next time.
I Worked with a now-VP of a large corporation, she applied 4 separate times jobs in the same group and got rejected the first three. Each time she followed up with what could I have done better, what are you looking for and what do I need to do to be considered? She worked on the relationships and she worked on her interview process. Eventually it worked.

Wonderful insights Sashak! It sounds like especially now, we are required to continually follow up. I liked your encouraging words in emphasizing that often times the relationships being built during the process can lead to a different job in the future altogether!

Don’t give up on what you want to do. Your talent has gotten you to the 2nd and 3rd interviews! Keep going, these interviews will only help you feel all the more prepared for the interview that lands you the job of your dreams.

I concur with what has already been stated and suggested. I will also suggest a simple act that may seem pointless but may be helpful to keep your stamina while job seeking and interviewing. If you don't already do this, try to watch, read, or listen to inspiring and/or motivational podcasts, movies, videos, or books. I believe this may help you, especially in those moments of doubt, fear, or lack of strength and passion. I'm cheering for you and hope that something great opens up for you soon.
