One Way Video Interviews: Thoughts?

What are the thoughts on these 1 way video interviews? Pros and Cons? Being on the candidate side, the con for me is the lack of conversation, the lack of authenticity, the feeling that a company just wants to rush through the process. The recruiter in me cringes because of the issue of bias. Depending on who sees these videos, I see a large potential for bias. I'd love to hear more, and what others think, and any great experiences any of you have had.

I have only done one and I did not like it. It felt very sterile. No surprise, I did not get an in-person interview!

To be absolutely honest, I find the practice offensive to the applicant. It basically says "you are not worth my time to talk with you personally". It doesn't allow the applicant the chance to ask questions or determine whether the culture is a fit. Even a short telephone screening call allows for two-way communication. Unless I was desperate, I would bypass any job that doesn't demonstrate the courtesy of two-way communication.

I find the practice super off-putting. I understand the efficacy, but it feels really inauthentic to me. It's a weird hybrid of an interview and application/candidacy questions. I prefer written questions to gather relevant information, followed by a real time conversation.

I think I would've preferred an essay or some visual or written proof, as opposed to this one way interview

I think without a two way conversation it can be hard to show your enthusiasm , you need that back and forth, I would hate this , and honestly I feel like companies are hurting themselves how are you really going to get to know this person at all? Staged canned responses In a normal interview you might ask the person you are interviewing to expand an answer or go another way , I don’t know I would be suspicious of a company asking for this , how much do they care about people or the people they hire if they can’t spare 30 minutes for a conversation , anyway that’s just me

I thrive on the 2 way conversation so I'm struggling

Pros and cons just like in any interview. On a positive, could replay and edit answers to ensure felt comfortable with. On a negative note, the first one I did I accidentally moved to the 2nd question without answering the first and there was no way to move back. Also, prefer having more of a dialogue and interactive conversation versus one sided.

Hello, I did one over the weekend. I wasn't a fan. I felt as though I was sitting in front of a mirror talking to myself. I found myself getting distracted by how I looked. Upon playback I was horrified to discover that I have a nervous tic and no matter how often I re-recorded the video it never went away. Because I wasn't interacting with another person, it was also difficult to get my energy level up. I did the best that I could and hope that this isn't common place among most employers.

Yes! Then I noticed you could see my closet, that my computer wasn't in the right position, my cat meowed, there were so many things! I also feel like I sounded dumb, and didn't look attractive enough
