Writing an essay for publication: the impostor syndrome way
A couple of weeks ago I saw a call for essay or opinion for a major university. I took my time find a topic of interest and to craft an essay about leaders and social media. I mentioned on social media how the essay was not flowing how it needed to flow. It was that statement that I knew my impostor syndrome person was rearing its ugly head.
I wrote about four drafts changing words, taking out words, and then putting them back in all the while thinking if the essay would be good enough. to be considered for publication. Fortunately, I am reading Valerie Young, Ed.D. about how impostor syndrome derails many people goals. Therefore, after putting down my thoughts for the fifth time, I submitted the essay.
Withing a week, I received a thank for your submission and the topic is a great. Please see edits and be mindful this is the first of several to polish for publication. I am now making the recommended edits including putting my name of the essay for credit.
What I learned from this quick journey is to believe in myself, and thrive.
