COVID 19

Hello all my HR people. I have a question for you. Please anyone can share their points as well. So over the last few days I have gotten a sore throat and cough. Today I woke up and felt totally rundown. I am warm even with the AC on. I don’t have a thermometer so I can’t say I have a fever. I connected my doctor and have been ordered to get tested. Here is my question, I am currently working from home. I have little to no connect with the outside world so in reality I most likely don’t have COVID 19. What I want to know is, should I inform my employer that I am being tested or wait for the results before saying anything. Would love any and all feedback.

Thank you for all your advice. I have an update. After being tested, I have been confirmed that I do NOT have Covid-19. Thank you for good thoughts.

There's no need to inform your employer of what illness you have. This is an odd case in that if it is COVID or COVID related, it shouldn't ding your PTO. I had it, and needed to cut my hours. As soon as I was sick enough to cut my hours three days in a row, it was time to let my employer know that I was a likely COVID patient. (Ultimately, I tested negative after 3 weeks of illness; that was common in the early days. It is assumed I had it and my time off was treated and reported to the government as such.)

Be positive, Maybe it's just a flu since you have little outside contact. Do you feel any loss of taste or smell? That's one way some asymptomatics started feeling the symptoms. By the way, some people can overreact if you tell them that you are going tested. If you think you're superior is one of them, better wait for the results. Personally, i believe that it's being respectful and considerate instead of holding back information for the tracing connection of who or where the virus started. If you have had contact with delivery guys, it's a big question. We have the responsibility to protect others, the community and mainly our family. A family doctor had only given me co-amoxiclav (antibiotic for 7 days, if you dont have any allergy with it) and difflam. Also took lemon and green tea with honey to soothen throat and relax my mind. Here in the Phils, we believe in a lot of herbal ointments and tea remedy drinks. Hoping for your fast recovery and dont get too strained!

I'm sorry you're feeling crummy! Use your sick time if you need it. Right now is the time to focus on your health and listen to your body. Work doesn't need a heads up beyond whatever circumstances that would affect your performance (e.g. taking time away to get to appointments or just taking a rest if your energy is zapped). Take care!

Wait for the results and realize that you need to keep your cupboards stocked at all times with Echinacea capsules, Guafacine capsules, Tylenol, Apple cider vinegar and green tea. These herbs are Native American approved and can be taken to kill a virus and save you from pneumonia . You can also research the health benefits of each one. In the end you are responsible for your health and cure. I keep bus tubs of herbs at home and emergency items. I pray for your recovery.
