And this is precisely what happens when you go the kiddie route. I would bet you have photos on the credenza and desk, screen savers and they are always somehow in your conversations.
The one thing I learned early is to keep homelife at home. I never in my career had any personal photos on display and I always kept up with sports etc. You have to learn how to network.

This is gender discrimination. Whether or not you have kids shouldn't factor in to their decision. Do the men who are attending also have kids? Did this affect their decision to let them go? They should have given you the same consideration as everyone else, regardless of your situation, and been accepting if you decide not to go for personal reasons.
