Happy Wednesday! Hope everyone is having a lovely day. Sending good vibes your way!
I've been several different titles of Assistant my entire work experience of over 12 years (Office Assistant, Executive Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Receptionist, etc.). As of April 2020, I've been furloughed.
For a while now I've wanted to transition out of the Assistant role and into something else. I have a BA degree in Communications. And I love working with computers. On my spare time before and during the Pandemic I've run a blog for over 10 years, more recently I started a YouTube channel and I just started a podcast.
Also, for more of a professional development I've completed a coding class on Udemy and I just started another on Coursera.
My question is, what more should I do to break out of the Assistant role? Now that I have the time, what would make someone look past all the Assistant experience and take a chance on me for a more IT role? Also, do you respect Udemy and Coursera as professional development tools?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
