I just got a callback from a company I was excited about until I realized how terrible their company ratings were

Should I continue the process? Should back out?

II think you should use the ratings as a data point versus a final decision making tool. There are a lot of companies that may not where they want to be in their journey to gender equality, but are taking steps to get there. Unfortunately, that process takes time. I would recommend using the interview process as a means to vet out the specific concerns that you've seen from the ratings - and I agree with Maria, interviewing is always a great development and networking opportunity. As a former recruiter, my advice is always to put your best foot forward and make it a hard decision for yourself.

I would agree with this comment. Proceed with caution and use the interview to vet the employer. Trust your instincts for your final decision. This is very important and often overlooked by women especially because, in our society, we are often taught not to trust our instincts. I turned down a job, in which the interview left a very favorable impression, and that I was really excited about for a job that "looked better on paper." It was a big mistake!! I should have trusted my instincts! Needless to say, I no longer work for that company. I still research a company for ratings and put a certain amount of weight on those, but I trust my instincts and the impression I got from the interview most. Good luck! I hope this helped.

I think you should be cautious with your final decision but I don't think taking the callback interview would hurt. If anything, you're gaining experience.
