I define success as: 1. Enjoying the work/thinking it is valuable to others. (These are not always the same thing, of course.) 2. Managing the inevitable difficulties reasonably well. 3. Seeing good results from my efforts/ accomplishing the objectives I set out to perform.. 4. Making friends among colleagues:being appreciated/positively recognized— ideally by others, but by myself in the absence of that. 5. Helping others to perform well, be positively recognized/acknowledged/become part of a strong team. 6, Financial reward— raises:bonuses when warranted. I don’t always get all of the above, but that’s my wish list.

By the way, I do best when I am given flexibility and independence, especially when others trust me to deliver a strong work product. So add flexibility, autonomy and being trusted by others to my list.

Liking my reasons for the things I do. :) Easy to say, but it's a work in constant progress!

My success I measure myself on is the self productive performance and the take initiative. When in sales I go above and beyond to make sure clients have all they need. Which has resulted in some wonderful relationships

Success to me is when I am given autonomy to make decisions, when I am enabled to pursue mastery to continue excelling my skills, and when I am allowed to follow my passion regardless of whether it's work related or not. And I am reimbursed well for what I do so I don't have to sacrifice my financial health in the long run. That's what success is to me!

I love that you brought up compensation! For me, a huge part of success is my earnings! I know I am good at what I do, but success FEELS like I am properly compensated for what I do. When I can break into different salary categories, I feel so empowered. It's hard to admit that sometimes. We live in a world where "money is the root of all evil" but I'm not afraid to say I'm awesome and deserve to be paid awesomely :) You just said it so much more eloquently than I would ;)

Oooh, this is a tough one! I get stuck because positive reinforcement from my clients means so much to me, yet I don't want "success" to be reliant on others. So I think, the feeling of working hard and being proud of what I deliver is a big part of it for me.

This is such an important thing to recognize - not letting your worth be dictated by others.... yet having that sense of accomplishment and being proud of what you have delivered is so important! I love that you aren't defining success by someone else and are cognizant of that relationship!

Success is striving to achieve the best version of yourself everyday. There will always be ups and downs throughout our career experience and being able to approach the situations with grit, passion, poise and with a professional manner is key. True success is helping bring out the best in one another.

I consider myself successful at work when I enjoy getting up in the morning, I'm challenged at work, and I know that I'm adding value.
