Wouldn't it be great...

if job listings cut through the BS and had a disclaimer, something like "we are not actually hiring right now but want to collect resumes for a future role" or "we have an internal candidate but rules require us to post the job" It really would save so much time, especially those which are just collecting resumes to see who is out there, it's so irritating, I recently reached out to a colleague about an opening only to be told it's not a real opportunity, they just like to get resumes and with their posting package subscriptions it doesn't cost them more to have adds up all the time. They don't really go back to the resumes submitted in the past when they do get a real opening, they just refresh the listing. Infuriating.

YES!!! It would also be really helpful if they were to include a salary range as well. No one creates a job without budgeting for it. You know what you can/want to/are willing to pay- just say it!

I just went through this. It's hard. I have been sending my resume out like crazy with no bites. Finally, heard something and got a in person interview. I studied, took out my best suit, brushed up on everything only to find out a week later, they hired someone else. I was crushed but I understood. Only later to find out they hired internally. So another door shut in my face. It's disheartening. They also told me afterwards that me being out of work for a year (to be a stay at home mom) affected their decision. The crazy part??? THEY WERE ALL STAY AT HOME MOMS BEFORE WORKING THERE. SMH!

That drives me nuts too. I once sent a resume for a job that had the perfect mix of my unusual set of skills. I never heard a thing. 2 months later the same job was posted. I sent a really bold email with the subject line "You want me for this job." and went all in on how they obviously hired the wrong person if they were looking again in 2 months. Mind you, it had only been 2 months, and the responses were electronic, so they probably had access to the original batch of responses and chose to ignore them. I ended up getting the job, but quit it a few months later because the manager was a complete wacko. Now I look at it as a warning that a company doesn't have their act together if I see them posting the same positions over and over.
