Posture Intervention!

Does anyone have any tips for keeping up a good posture while sitting at a desk? Over the last several months I have been spending a lot more time hunched over a desk for work. I stretch a lot, exercise regularly, and try to be mindful of my posture (but I'm not very good at it). I occasionally get tension headaches and neck pain, and I'm almost sure it's from my terrible posture while working. I've actually scheduled a massage for later this week because my neck and shoulders were hurting so bad today. Any suggestions/advice from fellow desk workers?

I follow TinyCareBot on Twitter and the regular self-care reminders are helpful. I also drink enough tea and water to need to pee about hourly. I get up FREQUENTLY and walk around during the day, and when I sit back down, I try to sit up. Quick observation? When I read your post, it reminded me to sit up straight! HA!

Definitely ergo-ify your workspace! Make sure your desk chair is the right height for you and that you're resting on the chair back (vs. leaning forward into your keyboard). One of the best things I've done to help my posture - and my core - is to sit on an exercise ball or ball chair. This has helped me immensely over the years. Another thing is that I have reminder set to get up and walk around once every hour or so. I also do shoulder shrugs, slowly rolling my shoulders forward and then backwards about 5 times in each direction, and also slowly tilt my head towards my shoulder (side to side) 2-3 times on each side to loosen tension. There are also some tech gadgets out there that help with monitoring and improving posture. I've considered looking into one of those as well.
