Workout shoes?

I am in the market for new workout/running shoes and am SO overwhelmed by the choices. Any recommendations from the runners and weight lifters in this community?

Find a store that is for runners and have them fit you. They will look for your gate. The one I go to let me even do a quick run around the parking lot. I’ve been wearing Hoka’s as a result. I like them but the tread wears out really fast.

I've been running for a few years and I love Brooks. But I definitely agree - go to a running store and have an employee help you find the right fit. The first time I went I think I tried on at least 8 different brands before I settled on the Brooks. It all depends on your arch support, the shape of your foot and your overall body type, so what works for one person might not work for the next!

Yes, go to a running store... If you run a lot. At some specialty stores they even let you run around the store to try out the shoes. I ran competitively in college and highly recommend true running brands like Brooks or Mizuno.

Agreed! If you run a lot, it's worth the investment. There are stores like Supper Runners Shop where they'll tell you which kind of running shoe is best for you based on the shape of your foot/your arch/your gait etc

Before a ruptured tendon, I was a runner. I ran with, and coached for, a running store in Dallas, TX. I am a HUGE fan of the running store. It may be a little more expensive than Foot Locker or Kohl's etc., but you'll get good advice from runners/walkers who are trained "shoe experts". They can look at your gait and suggest something in your price range. They can also give you advice about the way you tie your shoes (whaaat?? yes, that's a thing). You can also, probably, take back the shoes if they're hurting you or not right. After that, when you find a brand and style you like, you can buy online if it's cheaper (and usually get last year's colors for less $$). Good luck with your running/walking program! (one day I will be a runner again)
