Has anyone tried acupuncture?

What has your experience been? I'd like to try, but I'm scared of needles; how did you get over that?

I've had acupuncture. I think it is effective for certain things. (I'm not afraid of needles at all so I really can't address that other than to say closing your eyes might help. As others said, it doesn't feel like a shot at all, and depending on where you need the acupuncture, you may not see the needles at all as they may not be in your visual field.)

I tried it and really wasn't a fan. I hate needles and had a hard time getting past that visual (although it didn't feel like needles). I prefer massage, exercise and yoga for stress relief!

I love acupuncture! It does not feel like needles, in my opinion, when compared to giving blood etc.

I am not a fan of needles either but have been consistently going to acupuncture for four years. I am entering perimenopause and it has been a great way to keep my hormones balanced. A few years ago, I also was having some issues with enlarged fibroids and an ovarian cyst. After 6 months, ultrasound confirmed cyst was gone and fibroids were significantly smaller. Additionally I travel a lot so I use it to help me keep my immune system strong and reset from jet lag. Finding the right one can be a challenge so if your first experience is not great don’t let that deter you.

I've done acupuncture for stress relief, and I HATE needles. I think of them as pressure points, not needles. And breathe - yoga or pilates deep breathing. It really helps.

Yes I did weekly for about 2-3 months! I'm not particularly scared of needles just very uncomfortable with shots. It absolutely doesn't feel like a needle but more as a nerve pinch. I won't lie to you some areas are more uncomfortable than others. The place I went to wouldn't do any on the head so unsure how it feels there but the ones on my legs and arms I barely knew when inserted. Toes SOMETIMES were uncomfortable but more like a warm pinch than a sharp feeling. Also, it helps that you are lying down and can't actually see it being inserted. Once they finish you lie there and its very relaxing.

I love acupuncture. You have to think of them not as needles, but as little prickers(?) They do not hurt at all when they put them in or take them out. Give it a try... What do you have to lose??
