Does young child need a car seat on airplane?

Does a two-year-old toddler need a car seat on airplane? if does, any requirements or recommendation on car seats?

No car seat needed, but they will need it when you get where you are going. I highly recommend using one, and using a luggage cart to transport it (doubles as a airport stroller for kid or carry on). I put the bungee cords from the luggage cart through the seat belt path to hold it in place. I would NOT check a seat as it can be damaged or lost. Also, kiddo will sleep easier being in a somewhat familiar position, strapped into their seat. I'm something of a car seat nerd, and speaking from experience flying international when my boys were 5 and 2

No car seat needed on a plane but if she or he really loves their chair or just tolerated one, it might help them sleep (assuming it’s a night flight). Otherwise I’ve found that children that age don’t know how to really deal with their plane seats and end up sprawled all over you during evening flights. I’ve used every kind of car seat on a plane....the smaller it is, the easier logistically it will be to get it on and off the plane. I have a little trolley to wheel the car seats around because they can be so heavy to carry around.
