What eco-friendly habits do you practice on a regular basis?

Here are some of mine: - bring a reusable bag as much as possible when grocery shopping - use a reusable stainless steel straw - wait to do laundry—I used to do it on a weekly basis, but now it’s closer to two weeks - use a reusable water bottle - take less frequent showers - in the shower, I turn off the water while lathering up with soap/shampoo Would love to hear from others and get more ideas for how to lead a more eco-friendly lifestyle!

We added a Plastic Films trash to my apartment and have been using that more and more and bringing it to my local Target rather than throwing all non-recyclable plastics in the trash.

I do alot and feel like its never enough lol. I plant a variety of plants to help soil retention and just making my yard pretty, I compost, I also recycle my cardboard at the dump, I use dr bronners castile cleaners for the house, I personally use castile cleaners. I limit our water use even while doing dishes. I line dry big items and delicates. I shop thrift stores And I have taken my son under my wing for all this too! I also use a site called recyclebank.com They have amazing articles on reusing and repurposing

Love all these ideas! I try to bring reusable bags and cutlery with me everywhere, so when I do pick up to go food I'm prepared. I also refuse straws, and bring my own produce bags. Composting and cutting down on the length of showers as well :).

I've also recently been making it a practice to refuse straws at restaurants! Just a quick "oh, thank you but we don't need those" :)

I use reusable totes and reusable lunch containers. If I can walk it and the weather is nice, I walk rather than drive. I try to use actual cups instead of paper/plastic dispensable ones.

Work from home. Vastly reduced dry cleaning and fuel consumption. Reduces take out food and coffee. Out recycling bin is full every week. I purposely curb my dog on walks in field that don’t require putting biodegradable ?in a plastic bag ... ( sheep rotate in the fields and there contributions to the waste is minimal. Plastic bags for dog waste never made sense to me living in the country. Of course, I have foldable shopping bags in each car and my purse. Getting into reusable straws ... I have to admit that one is tough. Watching a straw pulled out of a giant turtles nose was a moment of change. My recent victory was upcycing by giving away a huge bathroom vanity and medicine cabinet when remodeling a bathroom. Kept it out of a landfill!

I also work from home and forgot about how this impacts fuel consumption! All of your other habits sound great!

I always carry reusable bags, water bottles, and I also use a metal straw! Also, I've always recycled, but for the last 2 years I've been composting and it has changed my life. It really makes you consider how much waste you create. It also started changing how I purchase things and now I look for biodegradable/recyclable or no packaging. I buy bulk types of bottles in their maximum size and fill up smaller bottles, instead of rebuying smaller bottles all of the time. Around energy, I do a few things. I only turn on the lights in the room that I need instead of them all, and I always turn them off when I leave the room (and remind my partner to do the same). In summer, I draw the shades closed during the day to keep the apartment cooler and I stopped using the central AC (unless it was insanely hot) and started using a fan in the room I was in. In the winter, I keep the shades open during the day to let the sun in and I don't turn on the heater unless it's unbearably cold. Instead I invested in some warm blankets, and I have a little floor heater for very cold nights. Lastly, when I go to the beach, I only use sunscreen that doesn't have chemicals in it, to protect our coral reefs and our marine life. Thank you for doing your part to help our planet!

I reuse paper that does not have confidential information as scratch paper and make my own note pads. I use beeswax wraps for lunches. I use my own coffee mug instead of disposable cups. I gather my cold shower water as I wait for it to warm up, and use that to water plants or use in my laundry.
