Does anyone know if my company can require that I take PTO each time I have to have surgery for the same condition?
I'm a breast cancer survivor undergoing reconstruction. I have had one surgery already this year and will likely have 2 more. My company uses Prudential and says I have to take 5 days of PTO or unpaid time each time I have surgery even if it's for the same condition (unless I'm hospitalized for it). This policy could impact the choices I make about my surgeries which I feel is placing stress on me due to a health condition out of my control. Does anyone know details on if this is legal or what I can do about it?
