Thank you. It’s helpful to know some have had such positive govt experiences. This mirrors my experience working for one team. However, in another, it seemed like senior leadership didn’t want the work that was requested by top management done, and people who tried to get work done were punished. People who are envious and preferred laid back 9-5 lives seem to help.

A low profile usually means no drama. Take time to listen to others ideas and don't try to spotlight yourself. It sounds like you are working in a team. Focus on the goals and how to work well with your team and your profile will remain low. Let the work product speak for itself, don't brag. Don't belittle any other contributions. I've worked in County, Federal and State Government for 29 years total in different states. I was promoted repeatedly in all 3 states.
